Bio
It has been almost a year since our son John Eaton Morris-Maddox died. Janet and I have been talking a lot lately about what we might do to honor John’s memory on this occasion. One thing that appealed to me was to begin writing this blog. It seems like an appropriate way to honor John because he started “blogging” when he was a teenager, before the term was in use, and kept it up as long as he was able.
John was passionate about many things, especially those having to do with injustice. Sometimes he could be intemperate in expressing his concerns. I want to keep alive his passion for those who suffer from injustice, but I plan to be more temperate in expressing those concerns.
In some ways it will also be a way for me to continue having conversations with John. We talked a lot about things, and while we usually agreed, sometimes we did not, and it could get quite loud, as both of us are/were loud. But it was always a conversation between two people who respected each other. I miss that a lot; others who knew and loved John have said the same.
Also the picture on the home page was John’s. In his declining years, when he could not do much, he did manage to try his hand at photography. Like so many things John attempted, he did this well, and I thought it made a wonderful backdrop for my site. John is present whenever anyone pays a visit.
I hope you will visit often and benefit from the issues I raise. I will be respectful of you and your opinions and may even learn something from our exchange..
