Bio

I am a Nigerian law graduate from the University of Uyo, where I studied in the Faculty of Law with a focus on anti-corruption law, institutional governance, and public accountability. My academic work centred on Nigeria's anti-graft legal framework and what it actually delivers in practice, questions I have not stopped asking since. During my studies I interned at the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice and at two private law firms, which gave me an early view of how Nigerian legal institutions work from the inside. That experience, combined with growing up in Akwa Ibom in the Niger Delta, shaped the research focus I have carried since: the gap between what Nigeria's accountability architecture promises and what it produces for the people who are supposed to benefit from it. I write on anti-corruption law, African human rights institutions, whistleblower protection, and governance accountability in West Africa. My work has appeared in policy and legal publications across Nigeria and internationally, and I have applied the same arguments in academic form through a submission to the International Review of Law and Jurisprudence examining whistleblower protection as an unenforced human rights obligation under the African human rights system. I am also the founder of CivicLens, a civic technology initiative focused on governance transparency and accountability in Nigeria and across Africa. I write from Akwa Ibom. That matters to me. Most of the governance analysis that reaches international policy audiences about the Niger Delta is written from somewhere else. I am trying to change that in the specific way available to me, which is to keep writing, keep publishing, and keep making the argument until the law catches up with the obligation.
