Freshly returned from a critically acclaimed world tour that included Paris, Berlin and other salubrious locations, "Uptown" Brown has found himself bankrupt, stranded (and more than a little hungover) in a far flung colonial outpost (Australia).
Brown is an inventor, musician, aviator and adventurer. Whilst born in England he has spent the majority of his life abroad, spending significant amounts of time seeking his fortune in North Africa and the Far East.
Whilst playing trombone in various prohibition era dance bands Brown noticed the invigorating effect of popular dances such as the Charlston and the Baltimore upon party goers (and the young ladies in particular!). Normally such dances required engaging a full orhestra of musicians, a costly and prohibitive exercise, particularly after the onset of the Great Depression. Brown, an eye always open for opportunity, realised there was money to be made if he could design and patent a machine which allowed a musician to play multiple instruments at once . Using leftover parts from a disused biplane (which he himself had crashed) Harry set about the task of building just such a contraption. After several ill-fated (and occasionally lethal) prototypes "Uptown" Brown assembled the machine he patented as the 'Goodtimes Gyrator-Scope' and the rest, as they say, is history.
