Bio
We began sailing when our children were 7 and 9 years old. After many years of trying to convince me that sailing would be a wonderful family thing to do, I finally acquiesced and we began the search for a boat. Gary wanted a fast fun boat and I wanted a safe solid boat. We finally agreed on a Swan 441 and the sailing adventure began. Neither of us really knew how to sail but Earendil did a wonderful job of helping us along. The kids became great sailors and loved their time on the water. We did all of the New England coast and up to Nova Scotia. After our trip to Bermuda, we decided that we might be ready for a different adventure.
Initially, we were looking on monohulls and mostly in Europe thinking that would be a good starting point. Then we got into conversations with some multihull owners and decided to at least take a look at them. So much research and changing of minds later, we began the quest to find the perfect catamaran. Unfortunately, COVID put a pretty significant damper on the search in many ways but we narrowed the boat down to a Catana 521. The good news - she was perfect, the bad news - she was in Fiji and they were completely locked down and we could not get there.
We tried for a few other boats and when they did not work out, Alexis (our boat broker) suggested we look at a Lagoon 570 that had just come on the market in St. Lucia. It ended up being the roller coaster of negotiations but we finally purchased her in the beginning of September 2021 and are finally able to let our new adventure begin.
