If you have a Google Workspace subscription purchased through WordPress.com, you can stop automatic renewal, upgrade by moving to Google, or cancel your subscription.
When you purchase Google Workspace through WordPress.com, you receive the Google Workspace Business Starter plan. You cannot upgrade to other Google Workspace plans (like Business Standard or Business Plus) directly through your WordPress.com account.
To upgrade your Google Workspace plan, you must transfer your billing to Google and upgrade directly with them. This requires canceling your subscription with WordPress.com. Your emails and data are safe — Google gives you 30 days to set up billing before your service is interrupted. You lose any unused days in your current billing period when you cancel, so cancel close to the end of your billing period to minimize this.
To transfer your subscription to Google:
- Cancel your Google Workspace subscription on WordPress.com.
- After you cancel your subscription, you will receive an email at your WordPress.com account email address from Google with instructions to set up billing and continue your subscription directly with Google.
- If you wish to keep your Google Workspace subscription and/or upgrade to Business Standard or Business Plus, follow the steps in Google’s email to set up billing within 30 days.
- If you do not want to continue the subscription, ignore the email from Google. Your subscription will end after the grace period.
Google will not transfer any remaining time from your WordPress.com subscription. We can issue a refund for your Google Workspace purchase or renewal if you cancel within our refund window.
Otherwise, you can either wait until your current subscription expires or transfer your subscription immediately. If you choose to transfer immediately, any unused time in your existing subscription will not carry over to your Google subscription.
