Configure API keys and credentials

Last reviewed on April 29, 2026

Your site’s Connectors screen stores API keys and credentials for plugins and other integrations. Save your credentials once on the Connectors screen, and any supported plugin on your site can use them.

Find the Connectors screen

The Connectors screen opens from your WordPress admin settings. To open it, follow these steps:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Connectors.
  3. Each available AI provider displays as a card on the Connectors screen.
Connectors is shown selected under Settings in the WP Admin dashboard.

Available connectors

The Connectors screen includes these providers:

  • Akismet: Spam prevention (included by default on all WordPress.com sites).
  • Anthropic: Text generation with Claude.
  • Google: Text and image generation with Gemini and Imagen.
  • OpenAI: Text and image generation with GPT and DALL-E.
  • Jetpack Connection: Enhanced functionality with Jetpack (included by default on all WordPress.com sites).

Configure a connector

Configuring a connector saves an API key, so any supported plugin on your site can use the provider. To configure a connector, follow these steps:

  1. On the Connectors screen, find the provider card for the service you want to use.
  2. Click the Install or Set up button on the provider’s card.
  3. Paste your API key into the field that appears.
  4. Click the Save button.

The provider card updates to show a connected status. Plugins that support the provider can now use the saved credentials without asking for the key again.

If the provider you need is not listed on the Connectors screen, search for it in the plugin directory and install it on your site.
