WordPress.com status

Last reviewed on October 23, 2025

There are several reasons why you may not be able to access your WordPress.com site. In this guide, you will learn how to check if WordPress.com is down and troubleshoot connection issues.

Check the official status page

The Automattic status page will display any outages on WordPress.com and other services provided by our company, Automattic. If there is ever a major outage or any scheduled maintenance, it will be posted there too.

To check if WordPress.com is down, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Automattic status page.
  2. Locate WordPress.com in the list and look at the Component Status column on the right side of the screen.
  3. You can also click the + (plus) icon next to WordPress.com to view the status of specific components within WordPress.com.

If you see Operational (or a green check mark) under the Component Status column, WordPress.com is not down.

WordPress.com’s global infrastructure is designed to minimize outages, which are typically rare and brief.

Verify from multiple locations

If the status page shows WordPress.com is operational but you still can’t access your site, the problem may be with your internet connection or network route. You can verify this using a third-party tool that checks site accessibility from multiple locations.

Troubleshoot site-specific issues

If you have checked the Automattic status page and the Down for Everyone or Just Me site, and everything appears operational, but you still can’t see your site, the issue may be specific to your website.
