Theme Requests

How about a Kubrick-looking theme that stretches to page width? The default theme is nice, but it’s very skinny at high (1200×800 and above) resolutions. Something wider, yet aesthetic, would be nice.

As regards feminine themes: Gail Dela Cruz’s stuff is pretty without being teenagerish, and the Rounded themes are both funky and floral. Naturally something Moxie-esque would be fantastic, but you’d have trouble finding it for free.

Hi staff!
I’d like some themes divided into cathegories, such as: cinema, cartoons, places in the world, animals, cultures…

Then, I’d like if it colud be possible to personalize the colors of the theme choosed, with the possibility to insert pictures into the theme…

don’t know if this is too much… but these are my whishes for the future! ;P

I like the -WordPress Default- theme.
Only thing is the background, i like to see it black, and keep all things like it is now.
That will do, just turn it black…

Or try to amaze me more and put another black theme for all of us, but the more -WordPress Default- look alike in features the better.

I love Andreas09 as a theme. I just wish there were different color options. Maybe if we had the option to make our own color themes, within reason of course, that would be nice.

There is no particular theme I have in mind, but I’d love to have some more designs available that use three columns (main text area + 2 sidebar columns) instead of just two.

I’m asking that before you take only these responses into consideration that you also use the search box on the support forum and the ideas forum. The reason I’m making this request is that I have observed most folks contributing to this thread are not volunteering on the forum and maybe completely unaware of the consensus that has been reached there.

Regardless of the theme in question, aside from the subjective ‘not-being-ugly’ the non-negotiable features are:

1. widgets (duh)
2. next/prev post links
3. sidebar in single post view
4. commentable page template
5. custom header image
6. ‘wide enough’ content column (to accomodate images of 500 pixel widths)
7. bullet for lists
8. fat footers with widgets
9. a special widget for the most popular posts or at the very least an icon
10. search boxes with “auto fill” and rss subscribing links
11. the capacity to change font sizes
12. attention getting dark coloured or highlighted links that do not fade into the background
13. sidebars that can be moved either to the left or right (everyone is not right handed)
14. an option to not send pingbacks to your own blog
15. make the number of recent comments in the widget user-configurable
16. hard code a header to the forums on all themes suggesting to visitors that if they have an offsite blog, they need to be over in WP.org land
17. ensure all themes have Previous/ Next links on their single.php page so readers don’t have to keep using their back buttons
18. some themes with a width of more than 450
19. Google and Yahoo Sitemap verification

Although your post is clearly aimed at a “name the themes” type of response I think it would be unfair to those who have sent in feedbacka and who are are patiently waiting for themes like fauna beta 5 to see any of the themes suggested here added before their requests are met.

Actually my two favorites are Jakarta (and Andreas (http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/3-columns/704/wp-andreas01-12/). Both are very clean, highly-functional styles but neither one is exactly what I want. So I find myself trying to tweak and tweak the code. Since I’m new to WordPress and to PHP, this is a bit of a challenge.

I understand that the author of Jakarta has now switched to using Joombla for content management. Too bad for us.

Hi

Currently I think there is only one theme with three columns (main body text, and a column sidebar down either side). I would like to see choices of a few different themes with this layout – three columns.

Also, I would love it if there was a feature on a bunch of the themes that allowed you to check an on/off box for whether you want a blog subtitle enabled.

I really love the new Pressbox theme, but I need a subtitle – not available with this theme at the moment

I would LOVE to see WP-Andreas01 by Andreas Viklund here!! I think it is a brilliant and sweet little theme, simple and very useful. And I love the fact that the blog part has two sidebars, while pages only have one sidebar. Not to forget, Andreas is a nice guy and WP-Andreas01 is one of the most popular themes on the official theme viewer site…. 🙂

It’s not really a new theme request, but rather translating current theme to French.

For example, some themes shows “Posted in” while they should say “Posté dans”. A few themes are OK, but not all of them.

Wow, I just checked out K2. It’s so much more than a plain ‘ol theme with the AJAX features and sub-styles. If K2 was added to wordpress.com would the K2 styles be available for us to choose?

We are using this blog to track our wedding planning. It would be great to have a theme for this! Something simple, not too cheesy! The sidebars could be labeled for wedding type things like: hotels, local info, registry links, etc.
