There is a saying among writers: to write more, write more. The hardest part of blogging isn’t the tools – it’s what goes on between your ears. Many people start blogs with excitement, but lose courage when facing the blank post page, or chicken out before hitting publish. Here at WordPress.com, we know. And we’re here to help.
Announcing DailyPost.WordPress.com
Starting today, you can go to dailypost.wordpress.com for inspiration, encouragement and advice about blogging. We’ll be posting every day so you can get regular boosts of motivation to blog more often.
The Post Every Day challenge
Daily habits are the best way to make change happen. If you can remember to do something every day, by the end of the year, you’ll have done that thing over 300 times! Simple and amazing.
As part of the DailyPost, we’re launching two campaigns:
- Post a Day 2011: Post something to your blog every single day through 2011
- Post a Week 2011: Post to your blog at least once a week through 2011
If you’re thinking big, sign up for PostADay. If you’re haven’t posted in ages, or have never posted at all, PostAWeek might be your speed. Still noble and bold, but perhaps more your style.
And of course, feel free to set your own goal – sign up as if you were doing PostAWeek, just so we can keep tabs on what you’re up to.
How to Join:
You can sign up any time – it’s okay if you are reading this on January 15th, or May 5th, or whenever. Join up – it will help you post more, which makes us happy.
Signing up is simple – do the following:
- Post on your blog, right now, that you’re participating
- (You can grab a sample post from dailypost.wordpress.com)
- Use the tag postaday2011 or postaweek2011 in your posts (tips on tagging here)
- Subscribe to dailypost.wordpress.com- you’ll get reminders and inspirations every day to help you bring your full potential to your WordPress blog!
If you need a new blog, go here first to get one fast.
That’s all for now.
Ooo, sounds like a great challenge! I blog about every other day, so maybe I’ll try Blog A Day 2011.
I’m definitely going for Post-a-Day, great idea WordPress – now I have another motivation to add to the list. =P
With all the movies and whatnot coming out in 2011, there shouldn’t be any lack of new ideas!
I’m looking forward to this.

It always seems to happen that I think of an inquiry immediately after I’ve already made a comment.
I’ll just blame it on Writer’s Block, even though it has nothing to do with it…
Would you constitute “posting every day” as creating a collection of drafts, letting them accumulate over the days, and post one each day? Or the [somewhat] arduous task of starting out with a fresh post every day?
In think I’ll be lucky to make it past the first week… but I’m given’ ‘er a go! Good luck all.
Looking forward to blogging everyday in 2011! Sounds fun!
Well this is the first time I have ever even thought of blogging so I am new to this… Should I do it once a day once a week? Should it be long or short?
I join right away after I read this! 😀
The idea sounds great! I wish I could blog everyday but nowadays I rarely have time to make weekly or monthly blog posts. 😦
I started for myself a 365 days project, and until now I posted 69 days … and counting!
Nice…
It is a challenge to be a real blogger 😀
Good idea, but on the other side: sometimes less is more!
Happy new year 2011 to all and many thanks to the WordPress.com-Team for providing the service!

week challenge too easy, daily too heavy…..for me! Good new Year to the wordpress community!
Not the fact that I LOVE blogging, and it’s interesting that people all over the world read my posts, mostly about anything. Blogging, helps me feel confident, and to receive comments actually feels like people out there actually hangs on every word that I write or mention. The thing that you guys up in WordPress are doing is really inspirational! Not only do you give motivation, but you give people to let out their thoughts or interests, and once they do, they might not be able to stop! I started in September with my blog, but it wasn’t my first blog. And I stopped, for like a while, but then I started again in around November or something, and I post literally everyday! And it’s not like only one post, I do like 2 or 3! So, all I’m trying to say is, inspiring people to blog more is pure genius 🙂
I’ve been blogging for a while on Blogger, but decided to migrate over to WordPress for the new year. Being in the mood for writing, I’ve already created a few reviews for the next couple of days… so I guess aiming for a post a day for the year should be interesting, if nothing else.
I have started today and my project is called ‘A Life in a Year’. I aim to find something significant for me about that day and relate it to my life. I managed a blog a day in 2009/10 about travel but it is hard work!
How otten you blog may be determined by what you blog about and why. Quality should always have pole position on the grid. Regularity gives people a resonable assurance that when they click on your blog there will be something there.
interessanter Beitrag….
I think there should be a prize as a reward at the end of the year. That way it would be more inspiring to blog every single day….
For those of you who beat yourself up about not posting enough, and feel pressured to write something even if its just “I haven’t posted recently” you might like to consider doing the exact opposite of this suggestion. I used to feel pressured, worried about what to write, etc. until I came across the Blogging Without Obligation site. This gives you a choice of little logos that you can put in your right-menu, which links to a page describing this concept.
The funny thing is that since I have had the “blogging without obligation” logo on my site and just posted when I had something interesting to say I have been posting at least as much and probably more relevant posts to my blog. The lack of pressure means that creativity and inspiration can come through.
I know that there are some people who thrive on having to produce regular posts on a deadline, after all Charles Dickens’s best novels were produced under these conditions as serials for magazines. If you are not one of these people then signing up to blog without obligation might be a better move than signing up for a weekly post.
LET’S DO THIS PEOPLE!!!!!!!
WHY WE ARE ALL HERE ANYWAY??
Excelente Reto! Gracias WP
Happy New Year ! Thank you for information……
I’m very interested in the Post a Week challenge. 🙂 This is a great way to inspire any blogger! Good job!

I have starter a Project 101 in 1001 and will be incorporating PostAWeek2011 into it, kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Great challenge!
Interesting idea. In the past, I’ve set a guideline to write at least 2 posts a week, but rarely make it to that level (although 1 a week I have no problem with.) I think I’m looking at my posting goals for 2011 in terms of word count (at least 2,000 per week) rather than post quantity.
This is a great idea!
is it for every language or just english blogs?!
Count me in! I think I’ll give the blogaweek a try. I get on a roll and do great for a while. Then I seem to dry up for a while. The enticed consistency may be just what I need. Thanks.
