There is a saying among writers: to write more, write more. The hardest part of blogging isn’t the tools – it’s what goes on between your ears. Many people start blogs with excitement, but lose courage when facing the blank post page, or chicken out before hitting publish. Here at WordPress.com, we know. And we’re here to help.
Announcing DailyPost.WordPress.com
Starting today, you can go to dailypost.wordpress.com for inspiration, encouragement and advice about blogging. We’ll be posting every day so you can get regular boosts of motivation to blog more often.
The Post Every Day challenge
Daily habits are the best way to make change happen. If you can remember to do something every day, by the end of the year, you’ll have done that thing over 300 times! Simple and amazing.
As part of the DailyPost, we’re launching two campaigns:
- Post a Day 2011: Post something to your blog every single day through 2011
- Post a Week 2011: Post to your blog at least once a week through 2011
If you’re thinking big, sign up for PostADay. If you’re haven’t posted in ages, or have never posted at all, PostAWeek might be your speed. Still noble and bold, but perhaps more your style.
And of course, feel free to set your own goal – sign up as if you were doing PostAWeek, just so we can keep tabs on what you’re up to.
How to Join:
You can sign up any time – it’s okay if you are reading this on January 15th, or May 5th, or whenever. Join up – it will help you post more, which makes us happy.
Signing up is simple – do the following:
- Post on your blog, right now, that you’re participating
- (You can grab a sample post from dailypost.wordpress.com)

If you need a new blog, go here first to get one fast.
That’s all for now.
Super exciting and inspiring! 🙂 Happy writing and Happy New Year!~
Nothing better than a challenge — write a post a day or week will keep us all more motivated and hold us accountable.
Best to all,
Shan
Ha ha, nice idea. I think that once a day would be a little much for me. While I do have periods of frequent posting, I also have periods where I don’t post for a couple of weeks. Maybe the ‘once a week’ would be good for me.
Hmm I have a photoblog and If I could post a photo a day that might be fun. And I already posted today so I guess I am in…

I like the idea…gives me more to read, so more fulfilling than any “social networking site”…ooh yeah, I’ll continue to post also.
Wonderful idea. I like challenge, and I’ve found that I love making it part of my routine. And I already know that the idea of needing to post every day actually helps me to write.
Damn, I did the post a week thing last year. Actually, it was a short story a week, but close enough.
Tons of fun, but I’m focusing on different things this year.
Kudos to all who are jumping in, and good luck!
oh,,that’ great, I’ll post in my blog, and I’ll try this challenge
This sounds like a good New Year resolution to me! I’m going for once a week.
This is AMAZING! One of my New Years resolutions is to write every single day. I actually posted it in a blog early last night. 😀 I am determined to write about something, anything.. everyday. Today I posted a blog about important events of 2010. Its really long, but hey.. that’s how I write! Check it out please, http://www.journeyofamother.com. I’m still a beginner, but I don’t think it is too bad, leave comments please. Advice and Constructive Critism are perfectly suitable. Thanks, Brileigh
I just finished blogging every day in 2010 – and aim to keep doing it – mostly because it would be too hard to stop at this point. We’ll see!
I was actually doing a blog a day this passed december but then college finals came around and I couldn’t keep up. But this was definitely a part of my new year’s resolution.
Im having trouble just think what to blog about so I just started typing.
I think my wrist might drop off :O
P.S. I just got the most awesome email ever from you guys. Hooray for stats!
Great idea – love the daily inspiration. Happy New Year WordPress
Awsome! I’m in!
I’m planning on posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (apart from when there’s a mega news story). Where do you reckon this fits in?

This should be possible for me, so lets give it a try.
cool. 🙂 i’ll take that challenge. let’s try postAday 🙂 i hope I can make it through the whole year 🙂 nice thinking 🙂
Inspiration comes in many forms and even though as a publisher we are encouraging our writers to blog, we have ourselves faced the same challenge. We’ve delved into two of our own titles for help ‘Inspiration – A Users Guide’ from Gill Woon and, very apt for this time of year ‘Make New Years Resolutions and keep them with NLP’ by Donna Blinston.
The latter in particular lifts from NLP to bring some simple techniques – for me, the simplest was to find the mechanism to remind me to get things done. My ‘goals for 2011’ list is written and ‘daily blog’ goes on to that. We all have the content – just need to set aside the time to process it. WordPress is great in enabling you to get ahead of yourself and create drafts too. Today’s is a book review and tomorrow’s is ready written too.

Relatively new blogger and not quite mastered the art of writing anything interesting but I’m up for it! :-]
I already blog daily.

Hey, PostAWeek was my New Year’s Resolution for 2010! I really want to do it again, but I know for a fact I will be going to a place this summer where I will not have internet connection at all (which is what happened last year too). Maybe I’ll just sign up and do as much as I can…

I hope it is not toooooooo late to get onto this ‘train’. As part of my new years resolution: ‘be a better me”, i just might get it going for a while.

Writing every day is easier than writing whenever you feel like it. Those of you who accept the challenge will soon find that blogging comes as naturally as breathing. I look forward to reading everyone’s work. –Lynn Trimble (Raising Arizona Kids Magazine “Stage Mom” blogger)
I blog most days during the working week, but have the weekend off for good behaviour! It’s a challenge to produce quality as well as quantity, but I’ve been writing for about three years now, building a steady number of visitors to my site (which is quite specialised in focus). What I do love about using WordPress is the range of goodies that are available – especially things like this ‘blog once a day’, and also the wonderful link to your own posts tool, fantastic! Thanks

No wonder ! You have always been so thoughtful, anticipating your bloggers’ needs and desires.Without fail a very encouraging and supportive step, which sooner or later is going to transform wordpressers into very prolific writers.
Once again well done to you all, well done to all the inventive minds.
Isn’t that a bit on the SPAM side?
Good idea to keep motivation!
Great idea, so everyone knows who is doing what. I will sign up for weekly blog as writing other things too. Can I just write what I like or do I have to get everything checked over first? X
As a new blogger I post a lot, but not with any consistency. One day I may post several things, other days, well, not so much. I’m going to commit to posting once a week and try to outdo that… consistently! Thanks!
Scott, I think this is a great idea.I signed up for this in time but i forgot to add the tag postaday2011 to my jan 1, 2011 post. Is it too late to do this?
cd904: Never too late – come join the fun.
Great idea. Especially for beginners like myself. I think I’ll sign up for once a week and try for more.
