There is a saying among writers: to write more, write more. The hardest part of blogging isn’t the tools – it’s what goes on between your ears. Many people start blogs with excitement, but lose courage when facing the blank post page, or chicken out before hitting publish. Here at WordPress.com, we know. And we’re here to help.
Announcing DailyPost.WordPress.com
Starting today, you can go to dailypost.wordpress.com for inspiration, encouragement and advice about blogging. We’ll be posting every day so you can get regular boosts of motivation to blog more often.
The Post Every Day challenge
Daily habits are the best way to make change happen. If you can remember to do something every day, by the end of the year, you’ll have done that thing over 300 times! Simple and amazing.
As part of the DailyPost, we’re launching two campaigns:
- Post a Day 2011: Post something to your blog every single day through 2011
- Post a Week 2011: Post to your blog at least once a week through 2011
If you’re thinking big, sign up for PostADay. If you’re haven’t posted in ages, or have never posted at all, PostAWeek might be your speed. Still noble and bold, but perhaps more your style.
And of course, feel free to set your own goal – sign up as if you were doing PostAWeek, just so we can keep tabs on what you’re up to.
How to Join:
You can sign up any time – it’s okay if you are reading this on January 15th, or May 5th, or whenever. Join up – it will help you post more, which makes us happy.
Signing up is simple – do the following:
- Post on your blog, right now, that you’re participating
- (You can grab a sample post from dailypost.wordpress.com)
- Use the tag postaday2011 or postaweek2011 in your posts (tips on tagging here)
- Subscribe to dailypost.wordpress.com- you’ll get reminders and inspirations every day to help you bring your full potential to your WordPress blog!
If you need a new blog, go here first to get one fast.
That’s all for now.
Okay, I’m in as well.
I’ve already posted once every day this year so I might as well join the club.
I hope I can keep up and wish anybody else, who took the challenge, all the best.
Check out my blog http://chrystalsblog.wordpress.com.
See you around,
chrystal
Great idea for a challenge! My blog is a Daily Photograph blog, and I’m now up to 782 straight days of daily photographs (some photo posts were certainly done in advance for some vacations). It’s now just a part of my daily routine. Good luck to everyone!
I’ll likely try the post a week and will likely average many more than that, but a post a day would be unrealistic.
I don’t think I’d be able to do one a day (whoo that’s A LOT) but at least one good post a week? I think I can manage that.
I’m already on it!! 5 days in a row =). Stop by and have a read!
That was exactly my new year resolution! Will be more fun to see so many other people are doing it too and get inspiration and encouragement from here!

Is one blogging just to write something, anything for the sake of it, or is it because there is something rooted inside (brain, heart, gut …etc) and the writer feels an urge to use that thing rooted, to procreate…
I always thought writing was an art along those lines.
Awesome!! Now a 2011 new goal for my blog!!! XDD
Why the he– do people feel like they must blog when they have nothing to say? The Internet is a room full of people shouting with nobody listening. And then SOME people pay other people (ghostwriters) to shout for them. It’s just wrong.
It’s like your inside my head thinking my thoughts. Just the other day I set an intention for myself to blog at least once a week. Bring on the challenge, Word Press and thanks for the motivation!!
This is great! It’s true sometimes I can get a bit lazy and lose all motivation, and I hate it when my mind goes completely blank lol. So an extra push would help! Although I do feel like I am back on track now and blogging more often 🙂
sharing ideas, hopes and aspirations!
oh its nice i get a chance to share whats happening
Hey this sounds pretty good! Why not give it a shot, my wife is always saying that I spend too much time on the computer, but maybe if I’m writing something instead of surfing, she may find it more admirable! But then again who can figure out what a woman is thinking anyways!
Better a week late than not at all, I’m in for PostaDay2011. Stop by and get a look at life from an older perspective.
Romania!
Nice Idea,
but Im trying to go at a slow pace, thinking quality instead of quantity. That’s not how the web works, but it’s how I work.
Enjoy 2011 everyone, however you do so.

Well, post a week might still be hard….maybe post a month for sure I’ll try for! It’s hard to be consistant and fitting it all in! By the way….I LOVE WordPress!
It looks interesting, but I think I will try Blogaweek, as I have about eight blogs dealing with different issues, I think I can blog thrice a week, one post on each blogsite at least once per three weeks.
Wonderful idea, but simply I don’t know when I post because I have three blogs, the work, the family and no time for sleep! ahah! Just right now I’ve made a post on my blog speaking about the possibilities that wordpress offers comparated to chatta, the other italian platform on which I write: I think I’ve made a good post to explain to the new bloggers where to go. But, also if I have a blog on Chatta since more than two years, and a lot of visitors, I really love all the opportunities tha WordPress offers to us. You’re great, wow!
Cool idea!
I like the idea of setting a regular pattern – that I’d stick to – and setting that as a goal to keep things rolling. Great idea!
i think that once a day is a little much actually alot too much considering that i already have writers block and havent been able to pull out since summer……but this will be a first attempt to blog…i hope its not as hard as i am making it out to be…..
Scott,
will you explain further the above ‘PostAWeek a spin and Post a month’.
My work pattern is one week on – one week off, so I have plenty of time on during my off.
I also would like to get more readers for my ‘weekendinspiration’ from around the globe, how
can I make this possible?. I’m still a learner.
Well done to you, I think the above ideas was great!
I’ll see what I can do! Trying the Post-a-day thing! Good luck to me! 😀
I wish I could…! but NO….
Here’s why… http://dazzlingaway.wordpress.com/2011/01/07/i’m-not-posting-every-week-in-2011/
Hey, I have a question! I have two blogs and I’d like to sign up for each challenge with each blog (or at least the weekly challenge with both).
Are there any rules? Is it cheating for one user to sign up with two blogs?
