2-Step Authentication and the new Android update
-
In the Android App update, cannot login to wordpress.com stats. I use 2-Step authentication. What password should I be using?
-
Hi there, to log into to WordPress.com stats you’ll need to use your WordPress.com user password, plus the verification code you’re sent through the two-step authentication process.
What does the error message say when trying to log in?
-
I enter my username and my password (retyped each type, double checked against my web logins) but I continue to get ‘Incorrect Login’ and no chance to enter my 2nd step verification code.

I’m logged in and posting from the app with no error. I have not encountered any other feature requiring login to wordpress.com, so it would seem to only be trying to access stats. Which just happens to be my primary reason to use the app.
-
Thanks very much for all the clarifications. I’m going to bring this to our mobile developers and will keep you posted here.
-
One last question – could you confirm which site you’re having this trouble with? I see three WordPress.com sites and four Jetpack sites on your account. Thanks!
-
Sure, it’s for quantumxen.net
I have not tried to use the new app for any of my other blogs.
Thank you for your help!

Hi there – could you try generating an application-specific password, following the instructions here? Let me know how it goes:
-
Thank you, Kathryn! That was the answer to getting logged in.
I created an application-specific password for the Android App in my Security options of my account (via the Web). Then I used that password instead of my regular password when I was asked to provide my login in the app. No login error!
However, I now seem to have a new issue. Please let me know if this should be submitted in a separate request.
I see where it shows Days, Weeks and Months. I see where it shows a count of todays Visitors and Views. But if I try to select either Weeks or Months, it does not seem to make a difference, the count does not change away from the Today display. The screen will appear to be trying to load new stats, but it always comes back to Today. Even the navigation indicates I should be seeing Weeks, the count below still says Today. And I have tried to manually refresh using the upper right side icon. It spins away like one would expect, but still only shows stats for today.
Of course, If I compare it to my Dashboard Stats on my Laptop, its a very different display. I don’t get a lot of traffic, but there is at least a variety?
Suggestions?
Thanks for all your help!

Is the stats issue through the Android app itself, and are you running the new version 2.3?
-
Macmanx –
Yes, this is through the Android app itself. It is version 2.3. All issues related to this ticket have been in regards to v2.3

Ok, and it works fine from http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/ via your Android browser of choice?
-
ok, I think we are getting close to the issue.
Via Mobile Browser, I’m getting a different, but still incomplete result.
Here are links to images screen captured from the Mobile Browser:

I went ahead and cleared my browser cache to see if that would improve the results. I no longer get the ‘overflow’ error, but the Bar Graph area will still not load in the Mobile Browser or In the App itself.

Would you mind checking in Android’s Chrome browser too? It’s usually a bit more modern than the built-in Android browser.
-
I thought we might run up against this. My device is only compatible up to Gingerbread, therefore I cannot run Chrome for Android. Are we up against a hardware limitation?
John
-
That’s possible, but it looks like Chrome for Android requirements vary.
Are definitely unable to install it from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en ?

Screen caps from both ways that I know how to get to the Chrome for Android app:

Thanks for your continued assistance!
