Adding code to my WordPress website

  I was provided code by a financial institution to add to my website. I tried adding it in the text section on one of my pages and it did nothing. I also tried to add it directly to a page as a link using the address only, and I tried using a plugin- image banner widget. Nothing is working. I need direction please!
