I just changed the title of my blog. I would also like to change the web address to match the title. However, each time I try I am finding that WP is asking me for payment info. My blog currently is free & I am waiting to upgrade once I gain more followers. How do I change the wordpress.com address without a fee? thank you!! it’s currently fearfullywonderfullymadeblog.wordpress.com This is what I would like to change.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/ NOTE that doing this means you pay the $30 redirect upgrade anyway to move the subscribers over, so I advise not doing it.
If you’re going to mess around with your URL, just pay the $18 a year and get a proper custom domain. You cannot change a blog address for free at WordPress.com unless you leave behind ALL your blog subscribers.

Ok I never realized that. I’ll just wait until I upgrade. Guess I missed the fine print on that one. Thank you for the reply.

Trust me, you are going to be better off in the long run if you get a custom domain sooner rather than later. That way all your incoming links and SEO accrue to the custom domain. I don’t normally advocate paid upgrades, but this one I do. strongly.

$18 a year seems minimal for an upgrade. I wasn’t sure the direction in the beginning it would take, but find people nudging me in the direction to focus on it more. What I currently have is so generic.
