Can’t find home page in editor

Hi, I apparently have a homepage that shows up when I ‘visit site’ – but it is not showing up in the editor. According to the editor there are only Blog and Contact. How do I get the homepage into the editor so I can edit it please?

Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi! You’ve got your homepage set up to show the latest posts. Here’s how to change that to a static page instead:
    https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/

And, you can add posts to that page if you’d like, too. It’ll just give you more control over the layout.

Hi, I had the same issue and I followed all of the steps in the tutorial you posted but my site is still taking me to a page that I don’t have access to as the home page. Super new to WordPress, and I’m using the twenty twenty one theme. Any help would be appreciated!

  • I don’t see anything particularly wrong at https://robinstestingground.wordpress.com/ but your front page has no content.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I’ve been trying to work on a local server before moving everything to my Siteground account, so I don’t have anything up at WordPress.com yet. I can try to rebuild the project online if that would make it easier to get support.

I have the exact same problem that 68illan had, where my main site takes me to a page that I can’t see in the admin editor. I’m able to make changes through the dashboard, but I can’t actually see the page that I’m working on in the editor.

I’ve done everything that the tutorial had posted, with the small exception of the “save changes” step at the bottom of step three. It tells me to click the “save changes” button, which for me has been appearing as the “publish” button. I’ve been assuming that they mean the same thing.

So obviously I’m being taken to a page when I first enter in my site, but it’s just not anything that I can access. I feel like I’m doing something stupid but I just don’t know what to do!

  • Ah, okay. If you’re using a local copy of WordPress, it could be a number of things, even the way your local server is set up. It could be a number of things, but if you’re getting an error in trying to access the page, I’d recommend searching for that, first. Especially if you’ve already defined a front page and published the changes (be sure you didn’t save the customization as a draft).

Going forward, you’ll want to use the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ , since our setup is a bit different. These forums are specifically for the sites hosted here at WordPress.com, vs SiteGround or a local installation:
    https://get.wp.com

    Hoping that helps!
