Converting a paid site to a free one

    Weird question, but here’s the deal:

    I operate two sites. The one in question here is studentloansandsweetpotatoes.com, self-hosted on Bluehost, powered by WordPress.org. I want to convert my site to a free WordPress.com site (that way I’m not paying for a site I rarely use). I’ve figured out how to migrate the content, but need help getting the domain name switched. Ideally, I just want to convert it to studentloansandsweetpotatoes.wordpress.com and transfer my old site content over. Unfortunately, the domain name is too similar to my old one (I think), and the only free option is studentloansandsweetpotatoes642600641.wordpress.com.

    Any ideas for making my domain switch happen? Or am I asking too much of free WordPress.com?

    The issue is that studentloansandsweetpotatoes.wordpress.com already exists as a WordPress.com site. So they system is suggesting that you add on those numbers if you want to use something similar. However, I suspect you could use something less complicated than “642600641” to make the URL unique. studentloansandsweetpotatoes14.wordpress.com for example.
