domain transfer problems
-
Hi I am trying to move from a blog to a wordpress website hosted by dreamhost. I keep getting this error message and I hope you can help me: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.
And because this is a blog and not a website with a full dashboard I can’t follow instructions to migrate the website because there is no tools tab. Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Are you trying to move a WordPress.com site to a self-hosted site on Dreamhost? To do that you need to export your site’s content under My Site ->Settings ->Export
That will give you an export file that you can then import on Dreamhost’s side under Tools ->Import in that site’s WP-Admin dashboard.
The domain mapping error you describe is what happens when a domain is pointing to WordPress.com from another domain provider, but the domain is not connected on our end by a domain mapping upgrade. From what I can see your account has never owned a mapping upgrade with us, but if you tell me what the domain is you’re having trouble with I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi, thanks! This was helpful, but now I’m sort of stuck in the middle. I was able to export it (I didn’t have full editing capabilities until now) but I can’t seems to figure out how to link dreamhost and wordpress– I don’t have the wordpress admin dashboard, I just have the dreamhost dashboard so can’t import it. Sorry, I know there’s a simple solution, I just can’t seem to figure it out on my own.
Thank you again!

Is it the domain, nursescan.com, that you’re trying to connect to your Dreamhost site? That domain is currently pointing to WordPress.com, but it’s registered with GoDaddy. So you need to log into your account at GoDaddy and change the name servers to point to Dreamhost instead.
You can find GoDaddy’s instructions for changing name servers here:
https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-godaddy-12317
What those name servers should be you need to find out from Dreamhost.
Once the name servers are pointed to Dreamhost and have propagated (which can take a few hours) you should be able to access the site’s WP-Admin dashboard.
Note that if you exported the content on our end while the domain was connected, you should first create a new export file now that the domain is disconnected as well. Otherwise the export file might be referencing links on your site at the domain that’s no longer connected.
