Dyad2 theme

I have uploaded the Header image but it does not show up on ‘website’ view
I have created a child page but it shows on the menu navigation instead of below the parent? Did I misunderstand?
When I view the website and then from there click ‘customize’ I get a message ‘page not found’ yet if I use the menu on the left-hand side when I log in, I can see the pages.
The same happens for the widgets.
Thank you for your helpThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @annalisamanenti2433, it sounds like you’re dealing with a few different issues. Let’s work on these one at a time:
– Page not Found with Customize
– Header Image problems
– Child pages vs menus
First, let’s fix the header image issue as that’s probably the easiest to get out of the way. Can you link us to a page that is missing its header image?
Also, regarding customize problems (which is where you’ll fix the menu as well) are you clicking on My Site > Customize or something else?

Howdy –
It looks like you opened up a new thread mistakenly instead of writing back to supernovia here. That new thread is at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/dayad2/
I’ve copied your reply there and closed that thread as a duplicate. Reply is below.
Dear Supernova,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Here below is the information you asked me:
Header image, from live page Home page https://scorpiomarkets.wordpress.com/
https://scorpiomarkets.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D2%26action%3Dedit
Please also note that the fonts also do not seem to apply. So it looks as if my customize page is not properly linked.
I have tried on My Site>Customize. On the My Site page I do not see the admin page but somehow I managed to stumble on it and then saved the link. Through this admin page I was able to add new pages. When I tried on My Site they never showed up when I previewed the site.
Once I published the pages, and I am logged in, and click on Customize, again nothing or very little seems to ‘stick’.Thank you
Best -
Hi! First, can you publish your customizations? Right now they’re only saved as a draft.
Please choose publish to see your changes.
Also, I noticed your header image is smaller than the recommended size:
1800 by 720pxThat information is available here
https://wordpress.com/theme/dyad-2If possible, please upload a larger version of your image.

HI Supernova,
I have published in Customize under My Site. It is easy to get confused when the Customize under My Site and the one in the wp-admin page do not seem to be in synch at all times. Could you please advise me when I should use one and no the other? And what kind of relationship there is between the two since they are clearly not the same. Take the menu for example, under My Site, despite publishing child pages, there is no way that I can see a way of having them under a top-level page but there is in wp-admin. The menu in wp-admin page however keeps resetting itself to Primary and not Scorpio Markets filed in Primary as it shows on My Site. This has an effect on the way the menu is shown on the website. Same for the widget, child pages are displayed as such at a top but only after spending time fiddling both My Site and wp-admin pages to get the result I wanted but I got frustrate and left the widgets as they are. Thank you.

Honestly they should do the same thing. It sounds like maybe you had one set to publish and the other set to save draft?

It’s true wp-admin does have a different way of handling menus. Personally, I recommend finding which one is most comfortable to you, and sticking with that. Noting too, if you want a “drop down” effect, that is doable via My Site > Customize. You just drag the link under and slightly to the right of the parent menu item. And since that is a mouthful, I recommend watching it in this video so you can see what I mean:
The menu in wp-admin page however keeps resetting itself to Primary and not Scorpio Markets filed in Primary as it shows on My Site.
This sounds like a bug. I do kind of recommend using just one or the other for now and seeing whether that stops this issue from happening.
Also I’m not sure what you mean about the widgets, but let’s come back to that once we’ve solved the other problems.
-
Oh on re-reading this, I do want to note that drop down menus typically will not work in a menu widget. On most themes that will just display all of the links in order, no drop downs effect at all.
-
Thank you Supernova.
So I should use Links in My Site>Customize instead of pages to create a drop down menu.
Thank you

Dear Supernova,
I have used a form in the Contact page. Where would I find the information on how WordPress process and store information in compliance with GDPR? Privacy Policy? I would need this information for my own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. There does not seem to be a widget for either of them. I thought I might use ‘text’ and link it to the pages but it is not right.
Also, the Header image is very big and takes the space above the line. How do I add/change things so that people can read on below the line?
Lastly, I thought I saw a slider block but I cannot find it. Perhaps I misread? Would ‘gallery’ be an alternative if I did misread and link the pictures to ‘hidden pages’ which I presume need to be set up as children to other top-level pages.
Thank you very much for your time and your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best

Could one get back to me asap with regard to my message dated 17th April? Thank you. Best. A

Please tell us more about this. Did it not work? Or it doesn’t look correct?

This is by design. So, your theme is displaying appropriately. The options are:
1. find a theme with a smaller header image.
2. reduce the image size with CSS. This option requires an upgrade to the premium plan, though.Something like Hemingway or Baskerville 2 is a similar design but a smaller header space. Take a look.

Let’s see how you feel about the second part of my answer above, in case you decide to change themes. All of our themes have a dedicated demo site and instructional setup detailed like this:

Dear Liz,
Thank you very much for your message.
I am new to WordPress so, at least at present, changing theme sounds daunting. I do not know how changes will affect the look and feel.Could someone get back to me with regard to my original message below? I have noticed there is something I can activate in relation to privacy policy and comments but what about the rest. e.g. contact form? Thank you. A

Hi there,
You can find all information regarding GDPR and WordPress.com on our support page:
For WordPress.com sites, the easiest way to implement this requirement is to provide some way for your site’s users to contact you with these requests, either via a contact form, an email address you include in your Privacy Policy, or even just through comments left on your site. Much of the data can be gathered/deleted by you directly through your site’s dashboard. For example, you can search for and delete comments from a specific individual via your site’s comments admin area. If you receive a request for either access or deletion, and you aren’t sure how to honor it, you can reach out to us for help at https://wordpress.com/help/contact.
Please read through and let me know if you have any questions
Thanks!

Dear Support Team,
Could you please clarify for me:
1. In Settings and in MY Site>Tool>Marketing “My Related Posts” is on. This however does not apply to Block Editor. Does it mean that I have to convert my blogs to Classic Editor? How do I do that not manually and will it affect the look and feel of the website?
2. Advertising on blogs and pages: I am not against it but is there a way I can have more relevant advertising such as jobs in energy and mining for example? Another way would be to introduce WordPress to associates of mine. WordPress will still get the money and I will have more relevant advertising on my site. Would this be possible?
Many thanks

Dear Support Team,
I have found the way to include the Related Post section, however it includes unrelated posts, that is those that are categorized and tagged differently. Could you please help?
Many thanks

Dear Support team,

Annalisa, for some reason you questions keep falling out of our queue. I’m really sorry we didn’t see your responses earlier. I’ll read through to see if I can understand where you’re at, but if this continues, would you mind starting a new thread and adding a modlook tag to it, in case there’s a glitch with this one?

There’s really no way to prevent this other than to keep writing posts that are hopefully more related. I will note your request to include only posts in the same categories and tags, though. I can’t promise that would be implemented, but at least we have the note for consideration in future releases.

Could you link to the post where this is happening, and let us know which tag you removed?
Also, do you give us permission to try removing the tag to see if we have the same issue?
