How do I remove the AI assistant icon in the corner(The blue star-icon)?

    Hey folks

    I was writing a new post when I noticed the icon in the bottom right corner for the AI assistant. Anybody know if it can be disabled and removed anywhere?

    I don’t care for AI at all and it’s just a bit of clutter to have it on the screen.

    I’ve gone over preferences but can’t find anything new in there besides the other AI-features, that I’ve already turned off.

    Hi there!

    That icon is controlled from the site’s AI tools settings, go to https://wordpress.com/sites, use the three-dot menu next to spilhjoernet.wordpress.com, choose Settings, open AI tools, and turn off “Enable AI assistant.” After that, reload the editor tab and the blue star icon should be gone.

    Thanks for the links!

    But it’s a bit weird because it says that the AI assistant is only available on paid plans (Im on free) and I don’t have an option to turn it off/on when following your guide.

    I didn’t try to use the AI assistant in the actual editor but now Im wondering if the result would have been an ad to upgrade to a paid plan…

    I’ll tag this for WordPress.com staff so they can confirm whether that’s expected or if there’s another way to remove it from the editor.

    Just found this thread after my WordPress UI updated today and…made its AI prominant.

    I’ve tried following the steps above myself, and also installed a few additional plugins to remove other features. But it’s still there, hovering over the tags section. Maybe the update’s causing problems with WordPress’s website functions? I hope so, I would like to be able to turn the AI assistant (blue star in a circular symbol at the bottom corner of the screen for me) completely off.

    Just a quick follow-up.
    (Still fuck AI), but I was curious about whether or not it even worked when I’m on a free plan, but yeah, it replies, so maybe there’s more than one error here.

    • Not being able to remove the AI Assistant at all
    • Free plan having access to it despite it being stated that it’s for paid plans.

    Another weird thing is that I read somewhere that the AI assistant wouldn’t be available with classic themes, but I’m also currently using a classic theme…
