How to program hyperlink for email address located in a sidebar?

My contact email is in a sidebar section on my website so that it turns up on every website page and is easily accessible to site users. I need to make it hyperlink so that visitors can simply click to send me an email. Thanks!

The support page on Email Links says,
We don’t recommend creating email links because spammers often use scripts to scrape web sites looking for email addresses. If you create email links, you may see an increase in spam. We recommend using a contact form instead.
However, the support page does include a model email link code which you can place in a text widget.

Correction, re:
“However, the support page does include a model email link code which you can place in a text widget.”
This code will have to be modified to include your email address, of course, and may be otherwise customized.
