Jetpack won't connect to WordPress.com
-
Hi!
I’m writing to you because some days ago I realized that my Jetpack plugin was disconnected. I don’t know if it has been caused by any plugin update but I can’t connect to wordpress.com
The error shown is:
site_inaccessible
Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Operation timed out after 15001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received]I’ve installed the Jetpack Compatibility Test and the log is:
[removed]I have used Jetpack correctly before, but it suddenly broke… Sorry about my english, I’m from Spain :)
Thank you very much.
Laura

Would you please try with all other plugins temporarily disabled?
Theme functions can interfere like plugins too, so if that make no difference, please try temporarily switching to the Twenty Eleven theme.
-
I’ve tried with all other plugins disabled and with Twenty Eleven theme on, but it still doesn’t work… :(
-
Who is your hosting provider? Also, do you have any other Jetpack-connected blogs under them?
-
My hosting is a spanish one: RedCoruna. And nope, I don’t have any other blog under them.
-
Is http://www.cargadadelibros.com/ the blog you’re trying to connect?
The xmlrpc.php file is suddenly missing. If you didn’t delete it, I recommend asking your hosting provider about that ASAP.
Jetpack uses the file to communicate with your site.
-
Yep, that’s my blog. I’ve checked and I found this file. I don’t know if it’s the one you need:
-
Hm, odd, now it’s back.
Something is definitely blocking us from communicating with it though.
Would you please ask your hosting provider if they have anything that would block Jetpack or certain connections to xmlrpc.php?
-
Sure, I’ve just asked them. It’s midnight here in Spain, so I think they won’t answer until tomorrow. Please, do not close this thread. I will tell you whatever they say to me as soon as posible.

Hi. They say they need to know which IP will be connecting to xmlrpc.php file. And what port will they use. So they can open communications for that file.
-
Ah, that is unfortunate that they have chosen to lock down the file so much.
We connect via the standard port 80, but we don’t use dedicated IP addresses, so it may be a different IP address each time.
Is just the port good enough for them?
-
I’ve asked them but I don’t know when they will answer. I will tell you.
I really don’t think the problem is that, because a few days ago everything worked fine… :(
Is there anything I could do meanwhile? A few days ago I had some problems with the encoding. I don’t know why but mysql changed to utf7. I changed it to utf-8 and the error lines disappeared. Is there any other file or configuration I should look if it’s ok?
Thank you very much for your patience :)

To clarify, I think it suddenly stopped working because your hosting provider has apparently clamped on down on their XML-RPC security restrictions (which in my opinion is unnecessary these days, and many of the best hosting providers don’t do this).
-
I’m sorry, but we won’t be able to provide a range, as it is extensive and can easily change over time.
To be honest, I recommend switching hosting providers. We do have a few recommended providers listed at http://get.wp.com/hosting/ if you’re interested.
