Links Not Showing/active

Hello,
My blog, journeyintoclimate.wordpress.com, does not seem to have active links. I’ve entered them correctly, as best I can tell, in the post itself. In the visual edit box, the link is shown in underlined blue, but when I view the post in a browser (Safari or Chrome), the links aren’t active. Please help!

Your theme only shows excerpts on the front page, which means that all HTML (including links) is stripped out.
In that theme, links will only be active on the single posts themselves, like http://journeyintoclimate.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/test-post/

Thanks for this insight. It is, however, what I would consider a serious “bug”. I don’t know of any other blog that does this.
How can I fix this? I like the cleanliness of the Origin, and can switch to another if there is a similar template. Suggestions?
Or is there a setting I can change and keep Origin?

It’s not actually a bug, just the way the designer of that theme wanted it to operate.
Most themes don’t operate that way, so I recommend trying a different theme.

Do you have any template suggestions that are similarly clean, but allow links?

Is there a way I can hide the black, horizontal menu bar below the header and above the posts? It just says “Home” and, for now, we don’t plan on other pages.

The only way to hide it would be to apple a display:none; to it via CSS and a Custom Design upgrade.

Ok. I’ve looked at the other templates. They don’t seem to show a post’s author. Alas.
So I am back to Origins. If we enable CSS can we fix things so that links show on the main page? So that the whole post shows, not just the first 4 lines?

No, CSS only changes design elements, it doesn’t alter whole code and structure, like whether excepts are displayed or not.
Actually, most themes will not display the author if you have only one published author.
Once a second author publishes a post, the author will be attributed properly on all of the themes I mentioned above.

Can we remove the “like” button at the bottom of the individual post page? I can’t seem to find where to do this…

Yes, at Settings -> Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard, set the Like button to only display on selected posts.

Hello Macmanx,
I am trying to add a header to our blog, and have prepared an image exactly 940 x 198 as instructed for the TwentyTen template. When I publish this, there is a black bar at the top.
I’ve also uploaded an image that is 940 x 220, and have the same result whether I crop it or don’t crop it.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
