Moving subscribers from a self-hosted blog back to wordpress.com

I recently moved my blog back from self-hosting to wordpress.com. I did the export/import thing and everything is fine except I can’t see my subscribers. I have downloaded them into a .csv file but I can’t find anywhere to upload them. can you help me please?

Thank you so much. Can I ask you where I can find them in the backend? On the front end where the email subscription widget is it still says there are 146 followers which is what it said before you migrated them. What’s more I need to delete the old ones as some people unsubscribed while I was on the selfhosted site. I think my current .csv only has 136 entries. On the self-hosted site there was an area called subscribers but I can’t find anything here.

I do need to remove some and I need to add some. I’m not sure where you found the list you added but it wasn’t the list from my self-hosted blog as that had many more people on it. I have two lists to send you now. One of people and duplicates that need to be removed and one of people that need to be added. Where can I send the list? I don’t want to post the email addresses in full view here.

We cannot add and remove subscribers for you. We can only transfer email subscribers who subscribed either via WordPress.com or Jetpack Subscriptions on a self-hosted blog.
All of the subscribers will need to add or remove themselves.

BTW kardotim asked who needed to be removed yet you say you can’t do that but these people have unsubscribed while I was self-hosted and it will be illegal to send them emails

What were you using to manage the subscriptions? Was it Jetpack, or something else, like Subscribe2, MailChimp, Feedburner, etc?

Yes, we can only import subscribers that were set via the Jetpack plugin.
You’ll need to ask the others to resubscribe here.

Yes but what about those I need to remove? Can you wipe the whole list for me? Otherwise I’ll have to go back to self-hosting because I can’t risk email going to people who have already unsubscribed

Nothing was transferred to us since you weren’t using jetpack, I do apologize for the confusion there.
Anyone subscribed at http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/?blog_subscribers would have already been subscribed to your WordPress.com blog. They would have to remove themselves.

But why did kardotim offer to remove them for me? Do you realise that it is illegal to email those people who have unsubscribed while I was self-hosted?

They unsubscribed from your self-hosted blog, but not the blog on WordPress.com.
If you wanted to start fresh, you could open a new WordPress.com blog and import your posts into that.
I am sorry for the confusion above, but we cannot remove subscribers for you, they will need to remove themselves.

You can register a new blog by visiting https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/ while logged in.
Once you have that set, I can move the domain for you.

I tried what you suggested but this time the import worked even worse than the last one. None of my images have shown up. Last time just some of them didn’t show, even though they were in the media gallery. I think I’m going to give up. Two and a half years of blogging wasted but sometimes technology just beats you.
