Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us. It seems like you received a partial refund for a registered domain that was canceled outside of the 96-hour refund period. I understand that this may have been unexpected. However, I would like to offer you a suggestion. Have you considered restoring the domain for use on a WordPress.com site or any other platform? This way, you can still utilize the domain for your online presence.

I’m curious about your site goals. What do you aim to achieve with your website? If you require assistance in designing your website, we have a website design service that may be of interest to you. Our team of professionals can create a custom website tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Feel free to let us know if you’d like to restore the domain. There’s a small window for us to restore the domain, so we’ll need to know as soon as possible if you’d like to restore the domain to use on WordPress.com or elsewhere.

    Regards

You are incorrect, you have issued a full refund minus the VAT part of the refund. In other words, you have no given back the VAT. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY.

I want to talk to someone on the phone. Where are your contact details?

  • Hi again,

I can confirm that when you made your initial purchase we charged the following:

    • £36 – personal plan
    • £7.20 – VAT
    • £43.20 – total charged

You can confirm in the receipt we’ve saved here in your account, which clearly shows the VAT charge that was included as well as the amount of £7.20: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/85679901

As mentioned, the registration cost of a .com domain cannot be refunded if the domain is cancelled any later than 4 days after it is registered. As noted here is cost of the domain is £12 ($12 USD)

We processed your refund as follows

    • £43.20 – total including VAT as noted above
    • -£12.00 – cost of the domain registration which cannot be refunded
    • £31.20 – refunded cost of plan and VAT, minus the cost of the domain.

You can confirm this is the amount we’ve returned as noted in the receipt here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/85943982

As mentioned by my colleague, it is still possible for us to recover the domain if you wish to continue to use it (for a site on WordPress.com or on any other provider you wish) so please let us know if you would like us to proceed with that. Thanks.

I don’t want to proceed with anything. WP does not make it clear when purchasing domain that one has 4 days to cancel, I only read 14 days to cancel which is what I did. In the UK distance sell regulations state that any online purchases except for certain entertainment purchases like theatre for example is entitled to a refund within 14 days.

Give me back my money please.

We appreciate the frustration. However, the domain registration clearly states that the domains can be canceled during the first 96 hours of the purchase.

Furthermore, by registering a domain, you acknowledged that you agreed to the Domain Registration Agreement terms, how refunds works, how subscription works, and how to cancel any. Please refer to the screenshot below (it’s an example of the domain registraiton checkout page):

That 96 hour refund clause is irrelevant and does not comply with U.K. distance selling regulations. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY.
