There is a saying among writers: to write more, write more. The hardest part of blogging isn’t the tools – it’s what goes on between your ears. Many people start blogs with excitement, but lose courage when facing the blank post page, or chicken out before hitting publish. Here at WordPress.com, we know. And we’re here to help.
Announcing DailyPost.WordPress.com
Starting today, you can go to dailypost.wordpress.com for inspiration, encouragement and advice about blogging. We’ll be posting every day so you can get regular boosts of motivation to blog more often.
The Post Every Day challenge
Daily habits are the best way to make change happen. If you can remember to do something every day, by the end of the year, you’ll have done that thing over 300 times! Simple and amazing.
As part of the DailyPost, we’re launching two campaigns:
- Post a Day 2011: Post something to your blog every single day through 2011
- Post a Week 2011: Post to your blog at least once a week through 2011
If you’re thinking big, sign up for PostADay. If you’re haven’t posted in ages, or have never posted at all, PostAWeek might be your speed. Still noble and bold, but perhaps more your style.
And of course, feel free to set your own goal – sign up as if you were doing PostAWeek, just so we can keep tabs on what you’re up to.
How to Join:
You can sign up any time – it’s okay if you are reading this on January 15th, or May 5th, or whenever. Join up – it will help you post more, which makes us happy.
Signing up is simple – do the following:
- Post on your blog, right now, that you’re participating
- (You can grab a sample post from dailypost.wordpress.com)
- Use the tag postaday2011 or postaweek2011 in your posts (tips on tagging here)
- Subscribe to dailypost.wordpress.com- you’ll get reminders and inspirations every day to help you bring your full potential to your WordPress blog!
If you need a new blog, go here first to get one fast.
That’s all for now.

thank you for the challenge and opportunity
Go!
I think I can revamp the challenge for myself–i got the blog in order to post video tutorials but have been procrastinating out of fear of failure…It would be a big challenge for me to commit to post a video a month. I would have to buckle down and start working on it NOW. Thanks for pushing me!
What an interesting task!
A Challenge.
who’s going to read all this extra waffle any way?
Tough Challenge 🙂
Interesting.
Agree. I think a blog should be kept updated with more interesting news or at least…keep the blog going.
Thank you.
The biggest prize will be a great story at the end of the year.
The campaign involve something more, like frontpages, or something like that?
Awesome idea!
My goal when I started my blog was to post every day, this might help me. I atleast hope so!
I’m in! Here’s to the positive effects of Peer-Pressure!!! 🙂
@SherylWoods
Awesome challenge…Just came across this newsletter 🙂 The challenge for me is long hours at work…as a result although I have a lot to blog about I don’t have the time. Hoping 2011 will involve me blogging more.
Trying to give this a shot. I’d like to try and keep my blog updated. I’ve tried before, but it always fizzled out. Hoping for the best
i think this is really cool and helpful. this will really encourage more bloggers not to give up on their blogs when they skipped blogging for some time. 😀
thanks nice post
I’ve already been posting (almost) every day before I saw this. I’ve been tracking my weight loss every day as I follow the 4-Hour Body book I got a few weeks ago. Now I guess all I need to do is keep it up for the entire year.
Interesting!
I love this new initiative you are launching at wordpress.com. I have been trying to get into posting more often anyway, especially with the advent of this new year!
Started my blog last November and though I didn’t write much on the blog, gathered lots of great info and pics. So this is certainly an inspiration to get those experiences of living on an island on “paper” so to speak. Working towards the blog per week or month 🙂
How about a reward (or a support group) for those of us who can’t stop posting, often more than once per day?
Martin: Interesting. Like a Compulsive Blogger’s Anonymous group? 🙂
Jokes aside, open to suggestions for rewards. If you or anyone has some, leave them over on Dailypost.wordpress.com
So far I haven’t needed a push to post every day, or every two days. It’s just so much fun, to have a place to put thoughts. Thanks, wordpress, for your elegance and thoughtfulness.
As the (self-crowned!) ‘Laziest Blogger on WordPress’, I think I’ll sit this one out… ;0)

I try to post every weekday, with weekends being optional. I like this motivation, though, so thanks!
Really love this idea! After doing the picture challenge last November I was a big fan of finding more inspirations to post every day. I’m definitely going to give this one a shot!
I’m in I wanted to improve my blog for this year after deciding to take my blog out of my main website so what a great way to do it.
Its a great idea…only..
What is there to write about? The challenge for me is if i have not been doing much everyday will people be intersted in “what I ate this morning”? LOL or “I thought the guy at the Gym was cute”? do people care about those type of entreis? LOL> That is what i’m worried about. LOL.
Can you give us bloggars some tips on some interesting topics to write about? Thanks.
Well I may be a few days late in the start-up, but I like this idea. Let see what develops week by week!
Hi,
May I request a blogging suggestion to help this challenge?
We should encourage each other by commenting encouragement.
If you tell everyone how to find others taking this challenge with the PostAWeek2011 tag in the upper right corner and search All Sites maybe that would help motivation.
Thanks,
~Laurie
A post a day? I’m in!!
I commit to posting everyday! 🙂 http://www.ressurrection.wordpress.com I can’t seem to stick to ONE topic so it makes it easier to post. But, I choose to post from the heart!
How about a “post 5 to 6 times a week” challenge?
Bmj2k: Just sign up for the weekly post challenge. You’ll kick-ass at if you average 5 posts a week 🙂
I’m definitely going to try to POST everyday! 😉
I too do … want to post more often. Every week will do. But what happens if I miss? Does the great Blog Boogieman descend from the sky to harrass bad bloggers??
Kind of excited, wondering how long I’ll end up posting for!
I’d love to do this!!!! But WordPress.com is censored in China. Any news on how to get around it and to be able to post without having to send a new post to a friend in another country to post on my behalf???
Happy new year for all Blogger …..
Great picture, great post ..
Thank you very much !
We’re doing about 25 posts a day over at http://www.mailart365.com but started on December 1st. I guess that this is purely a WordPress venture? That would be a real shame if it were, as we have some fantastic posts going up there. The key to our blog is having lots of people posting and egging each other on.
Nice idea to kick start the year! 🙂
Post a day or post a week or post a month. The idea is simply awesome. It has something, that can’t exactly put it in words (oops! And I am blogger) something that makes you sit back and think whether you can do it. And I believe that feeling itself is an impetus or driving force to write, to express. This campaign is a great way to inspire many to start, just for the experience itself which I feel will be great. Well, I am still deciding and little unsure about trying Post a day but one thing I am sure of is that I will love it if I do it.
Kudos to WordPress for coming up with such a thoughtful and meaningful exercise 🙂
